Centare Group Helps Fight Against Lou Gehrig’s Disease

Milwaukee---On Thursday, June 19th Centare Group participated in the 14th Annual Quad Charity Open, a charitable golf tournament held at the Silver Spring Country Club. The tournament, hosted by Quad/Graphics and supported by many of Wisconsin’s local businesses including Centare Group, raised funds for The Waisman Center, a renowned research facility and affiliate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Waisman Center strives to advance knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities and neurodegenerative diseases. Currently The Waisman Center is making great strides in the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. In addition to sponsoring one of the tournament’s holes, Centare Group representatives Dave Glyzewski and Dave Rice were on hand at the event to support the fundraiser.

“As an able-bodied adult, I am fortunate to participate in every-day activities, like a golf tournament,” said Glyzewski. “Unfortunately those stricken by ALS and other debilitating diseases aren’t afforded similar opportunities. Centare Group supports initiatives like this with the hope that future generations can always enjoy life as it was meant to be. We applaud Quad/Graphics for their charitable efforts and remain advocates of The Waisman Center and their cause.”

Dave Sugar, development consultant for The Waisman Center, estimated that proceeds from the golf tournament would exceed $200,000. The final figures will be made available in the coming weeks by Quad/Graphics representatives. According to Sugar, the golf tournament was a successful event and enjoyed by all those participating.

“The golf tournament was a wonderful outing with phenomenal organization by the people at Quad/Graphics,” said Sugar. “We are ecstatic to have the support of Centare Group and others as we work on treatments for ALS and other diseases. Not only were we able to raise a lot of money, but I believe a good time was had by all. With the UW Band on hand, it was like a UW football 5th quarter celebration down at the golf course.”
