MILWAUKEE, November, 2009 – Centare Group, Southeast Wisconsin’s premier software development and technology consulting firm, recently hosted and participated in the inaugural iMade (Mobile Application Development Event) user group event. Conceived by Brennan Stehling of SmallSharpTools.com, iMade brought together leading iPhone developers and enthusiasts for a one day seminar in an attempt to design an iPhone application from scratch.
Held at the Centare Group offices in Brookfield, more than 30 interested designers were in attendance at the iMade event to lend their expertise to the project. Together, the group focused their efforts on three core aspects of application development:
- User Experience Design
- Graphic Design
- Objective-C Coding for the iPhone
Following Apple’s guidelines for development, the iMade group made significant progress on the design. The expected end result is an application titled My Groups that allows iPhone owners access to an up-to-date listing of area technology user groups, the ability to join them, subscribe to their RSS and calendar feeds and stay current with their latest news and events. iMade hopes to have a version of My Groups available for purchase at the online Apple Store by year’s end.
According to Ed Chaltry, Centare Group Chief Technology Officer, Centare is committed to helping transition Milwaukee into a hotbed for technology professionals. “Coming together for the first iMade event was a step in the right direction for the Milwaukee-areas technology community,” says Chaltry. “Starting a dedicated iPhone user group will only continue to propel interest in the burgeoning technology. But perhaps even more important, it has the potential to help drive software innovation in the industry.”
