Strategic IT Assessments

Optimization enables a business to realize the full value of its IT infrastructure and platform investments.
It establishes IT as a strategic business asset that facilitates innovation and helps organizations respond quickly to change. The Microsoft Infrastructure Optimization (IO) process provides a capability framework to help organizations build an optimized infrastructure. While Centare Group consultants follow basic IO principles, their implementation need not be Microsoft platform-specific.

Infrastructure Optimization (IO) delivers a clear roadmap for Dynamic IT.
IO is a structured, systematic process for assessing an organization’s IT infrastructure and technology platform. Through IO, a roadmap is developed helping companies define and implement optimization initiatives that enable proactive IT management, reduce risks and lower costs. These optimization initiatives also address user needs and enhance the user experience – ultimately increasing employee productivity.

Optimization is viewed from multiple perspectives.
In order to help customers assess the effectiveness and potential of their IT infrastructure and platform, Microsoft has developed three optimization models based on industry and analyst work:

  • Core Infrastructure - the Core Infrastructure Optimization model helps businesses develop a more secure, well-managed and dynamic infrastructure that reduces IT costs, makes better use of IT resources and leverages IT as a strategic asset.
  • Business Productivity Infrastructure - the Business Productivity Infrastructure Optimization model is a complete set of technologies that streamline the data management process. It simplifies how employees work together, and it improves the quality of business insight.
  • Application Platform - the Application Platform Optimization model provides IT organizations with a tool that helps them recognize and adopt a more flexible and agile application platform.

The road to IT optimization is clear.
At the end of the assessment, your organization has a clear, long-term strategic plan that systematically moves your organization through manageable iterations toward a goal of Dynamic IT. Iterations are identified by well-defined milestones that monitor progress against the plan.
